32 Lessons from My 32 Year Journey

I still remember my first day of work on 01/08/91 at the Arvind Mills plant in Naroda - an industrial area in Ahmedabad. I still hadn't technically earned my Masters in Labour Welfare, as my results hadn't been announced. In the last 32 years, many things have changed. I have also changed, and I wanted to sit and reflect on what this sometimes challenging, often frustrating, but always rewarding and fulfilling experience has taught me.


Some of these things may seem simple, but I have learnt that it's often the simple things that create the most impact.

  1. Office Etiquettes: Embrace professionalism and create a conducive work environment by practicing office etiquettes that reflect respect and courtesy

  2. Building Relationships: Forge meaningful connections with colleagues and stakeholders to foster a harmonious workplace and nurture collaboration

  5. Data Analysis: Master data analysis to make informed decisions and leverage data-driven insights to enhance HR practices

  6. Leading and Taking People Along: Develop leadership traits that inspire and motivate others, steering the team towards success

  7. Knowing When to Handle Things Yourself: Balance self-reliance with delegation to optimize your efficiency and productivity
